Artist Profile

1998 Born in Shiga Prefecture
2021 Graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts
2023 BA in Oil Painting, Kyoto University of the Arts
Kizumoto paints motifs from layers of paint on colored felt, which he then cuts into random pieces. She places many felt pieces on the floor as if he were throwing them on the floor. The felt pieces absorb and reflect light, and have a danger of color that is different from that of paint. The colors and overlapping parts create a complex space. For the artist, felt is a material that brings to mind memories of her childhood, when her mother used to make her play-doh toys, and it is an element that evokes feelings of nostalgia and peacefulness. The act of putting color on canvas and felt is also a process of pushing time and space into the canvas and felt, and she creates her works while in dialogue with the materials, colors, and herself.
