Gallery Baiken Kyoto

Baiken Gallery locates in the center of Kyoto, at Shijo Karasuma. We have specialized handling paintings by Japanese artists and are known as a pioneer for that kind of business. Over the years, we had nurtured and handled many young artists, some of whom have later been awarded with the Order of Culture, the highest honor in the field of arts.

In recent years, amidst the generational shift among artists and customers, the gallery has been introducing the appeal of Today’s(Contemporary) Nihonga to generations who are not familiar with “Japanese painting” by showing works by artists of the same generations.

We aim to increase the handling of high quality “contemporary art” without damaging the public image of Baiken Gallery as the “Nihonga”, and to expand into many genres, regardless of Japanese or Oil painting, of 2D or 3D works.
