Gallery Monma is a contemporary art gallery located in Asahigaoka, a quiet residential area rich in nature within the city of Sapporo. The gallery was established in 2003 by Yoko Monma, the founder of the gallery, in her renovated home with the aim of creating and disseminating new culture from Sapporo and providing a place for many people to interact through art and culture. After 20 years since its opening, the old building has deteriorated, so it was demolished and reopened in the fall of 2021.
The new Gallery Monma will focus on creating an atmosphere that encourages natural conversation between visitors, gallerists, and artists.
The new Gallery Monma will exhibit high quality contemporary artworks and participate in art fairs in Japan and abroad to promote creativity in a wide range of fields.
