Kaohsiung takao art

San Yu Art was founded as an extension of **San Yu Bookstore**, a cultural space known for its warm, humanistic atmosphere. The name *San Yu* (“Three Leisure Times”) originates from an ancient Chinese concept: winter as the surplus of the year, night as the surplus of the day, and rainy days as the surplus of sunny days. These “three leisure times” symbolize the quiet moments set apart from daily life for reading, contemplation, and self-reflection.
Since its establishment, San Yu Bookstore has served as a cultural landmark within the city, promoting reading not merely as a means of acquiring knowledge, but as a way of life.
Inspired by this philosophy, **San Yu Art** was born from the belief that art flourishes within these moments of quiet reflection. Free from the demands of utility and efficiency, art offers opportunities to reconnect with the world and rediscover oneself. By creating a dialogue between books, people, and artistic expression, we see artistic practice as another form of “reading”—one that enriches everyday life with deeper meaning, sensitivity, and freedom.
