“Leading ASIA” is a booth curated by Mr.Daisuke Miyatsu. With the theme of “Storyteller”, it introduces artworks by popular Asian artists working on social issues such as post-covid or living with covid situation. We will exhibit fresh works that represent “emotional” Asian art.
~AFAF2023 Leading ASIA~
Under the theme “Storyteller”, the exhibition presents a selection filled with chosen artists from galleries in the Asian region. Many of the works portray dynamic economic development, social issues, and the post-pandemic situation and present the emotional Asia today. The participating galleries are nca | nichido contemporary art (Tokyo), GALLERY2 (Seoul and Jeju island, South Korea), Sa Sa Art Projects (Phnom Penh, Cambodia), Vin Gallery (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam), and YIRI ARTS (Taipei, Taiwan). The exhibition will consist of a total of 15 works, including those by remarkable artists. The exhibition includes Ngoc Nau, who had a huge impact at this year’s Art Basel Hong Kong, Hsieh Jung-Wei, who was selected for the Taiwan Cultural Center’s “Made in Taiwan” exhibition, and Chen Hsien Yu, who broke new ground at the “There is another capital beneath the wave.” exhibition (Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media). And these artists’ new art works will be shown for the first time.

CURATOR PROFILE

Daisuke Miyatsu
Born in Tokyo, 1963. Art collector and professor at Yokohama College of Art and Design. D. (Academic). He collects over 400 art pieces as an office worker. Since 2011, his collection of artworks have been exhibited in Taiwan and South Korea. He has lectured at international art exhibitions and museums in Japan and abroad.
