We opened the gallery in Ginza, Tokyo in 1974. We introduced British contemporary art, which was still unfamiliar in Japan at that time, with a focus on David Hockney, Richard Hamilton, Lucian Freud, and others. We also have ongoing exhibitions of Japanese artists such as Katsura Funakoshi, Takanobu Kobayashi, Chieko Oshie, Atsuhiko Misawa, Kumi Machida, etc. In 2006, the gallery moved to Nihonbashi, Tokyo. In 2012, a visual history book, “Nishimura Gallery 35 Years +” (Kyuryudo) was published.
