Painting for Sky
At the Fukuoka Airport, the gateway to Kyushu, a mural titled Nowhere is My Destination by renowned Indonesian artist Eko Nugroho will be on display from Wednesday, September 18th, to Monday, September 23rd (national holiday). Nugroho, a resident artist at the Fukuoka asian Art Museum, has been involved in several projects in Fukuoka, including a public artpiece at Hakata Port. At the airport, he will present an impressive mural measuring over 2 meters in height and 6 meters in width. This striking artwork is part of the AFAF2024 satellite program, and aims to welcome visitors into Fukuoka with art.
Waves of Art
At Hakata Port Tower, the maritime gateway to Fukuoka, a live performance by Mio Okazaki will take place during the opening event of BAYSIDE FESTIVAL 2024 on Friday, September 20th. Okazaki, who studied Cubism at Musashino Art University and has experience as a former professional wrestling editor, is known for creating numerous works around the motif of wrestling. Be sure to catch this unique and exciting performance.
