1⃣ Best Collection III
An Era of Transformation, New Self-Portraits
A crucial key to Asian art gaining its distinctiveness was the stance of artists who looked at their own backgrounds, different from others, and sought to develop their expression from that starting point. By re-examining the history, traditions, and cultures shaping their identities, or the realities of the societies surrounding them, and striving to present these in unprecedented ways—it is through such attempts to create these “new self-portraits,” so to speak, that a new era in Asian art is being forged.
This exhibition marks the largest-scale “Best Collection” show to date. We invite you to experience, within a dynamic space, the masterpieces created during an era of great advancement for Asian art.

2⃣ Vietnam: Landscapes of Memory
The Vietnam War (also known as the War of Resistance Against America to Save the Nation/Second Indochina War), which ended in 1975, is recognized as a pivotal historical moment where Vietnam repelled the superpower America, profoundly altering the existing world order.
Marking the 50th anniversary of the war’s end, this exhibition traces Vietnam’s turbulent century—a period constantly grappling with modern global challenges like colonial rule by Western powers, struggles for independence, refugee crises, and globalization—through approximately 110 artworks by Vietnamese artists.
From elegant paintings depicting idealized landscapes of the homeland, to powerful posters inspiring revolution, to contemporary art re-narrating history through family memories—through the diverse expressions created by Vietnamese artists confronting their homeland and themselves, the “memory scapes” of modern and contemporary Vietnam, previously unseen, will emerge vividly.
Amid ongoing conflicts and violence worldwide, we hope this exhibition will offer an opportunity to reexamine the world we live in today and contribute to mutual understanding between Vietnam and Japan—two nations whose importance to each other has grown significantly in recent years.
