Born in Dalian, Manchuria in 1913, he moved to Tokyo shortly after. Under the guidance of his father, he studied calligraphy and the Japanese and Chinese classics. In addition to his calligraphy, he created a unique style of painting by combining Chinese and Japanese poetry with ink drawings and paintings.
