JOY CLUB Atelier Bravo

This is the art department of the “JOY Club,” a welfare service facility for people with disabilities operated by the social welfare corporation JOY Breath for Tomorrow, where artists create works on a daily basis.

Aiming at social participation through cultural activities, the artists not only create freely, but also produce works according to orders and collaborate with others.

We are working to be familiar to everyone as an artist and as a human being, and to realize a society in which people with and without disabilities can live together!

Markers, Colored pencles

H270 × W225 × D2 cm

Artist Profile

“That’s it! I’ve got it!” With that exclamation, the drawing progresses rapidly. The beauty of the lines is exquisite, and as the artist becomes engrossed in the work, their heart races, and they whisper, “It’s shining,” while intently staring at the tip of their pen.
As a big fan of Arashi, she has clear favorites in anime, such as characters from “Demon Slayer” and “Pokémon,” and drawing them is her happiest moment. She continues to expand the range of things she can draw, such as still lifes in the theme colors of Arashi members. Even now, she often infuses the colors and decorative shapes she uses with the meanings of Arashi members’ colors.

Born in Fukuoka City in 2004.
2023- Present: Member of JOY Club, a welfare service facility for people with disabilities, and Atelier Bravo.
2023: Received the Excellence Award at the 5th Mobile Art Car Painting Contest (Barter Village x Hakunisha).

Acrylic paints

H33 × W26 × D2 cm

Artist Profile

He never runs out of things he wants to draw, and as soon as he has a new piece of paper, he immediately starts working on a new piece. Strong black lines crawl across the canvas, and the paint is applied generously, overflowing from the palette. He creates multiple paintings at the same time, and the paintings he created yesterday are transformed into different paintings without hesitation. The layers of paint eventually take on a rich texture.

Artist Profile

Although the works are “drawn as seen,” they appear to be deformed. The colors also do not shy away from deviating from the actual colors. The driving force behind the drawings is the love shared with loved ones such as family and friends. Recently, the artist has been exploring new territory with a “pop and cute” style.

He never runs out of things he wants to draw, and as soon as he has a new piece of paper, he immediately starts working on a new piece. Strong black lines crawl across the canvas, and the paint is applied generously, overflowing from the palette. The layers of paint eventually take on a rich texture.

Artist Profile

He finds photographs of buildings around the world, vast landscapes, interesting creatures, people, ordinary utensils, and food, and paints them exactly as he sees them, with single-minded precision. The countless shades of green are particularly beautiful. He perceives red and green as the same color, so blue-and-white porcelain pots appear as a soft pink, and people’s faces appear as a light green.

Sayaka kubota

Bright green and yellow in a bottle because it's shining

2024

Markers, colored pencils

Painting

H42 × W29.7 cm

2023: Exhibited works at the Atelier Bravo Independent Project Exhibition (group exhibition) “Honest Glasses” at MARUZEN Gallery Fukuoka and Gallery Shunka.

Artist Profile

I find joy in drawing lines, erasing them, and arranging colors. My favorite motifs are buildings and interiors. I repeatedly erase and redraw lines with an eraser to achieve straight lines, and I find the wavy lines beautiful. Once the sketch is complete, I follow a set procedure of applying paint, markers, and colored pencils to create beautiful colors. I am a methodical person who works steadily.

2020–2022: Illustrator for two stores, Bouton and CLUTCH, for the “Art for Energy! COVID-19 Recovery Support Art T-Shirt We Are One” project

Painting

H35.5 × W53 cm

Artist Profile

Although the works are “drawn as seen,” they appear to be deformed. The colors also do not shy away from deviating from the actual colors. The driving force behind the drawings is the love shared with loved ones such as family and friends. Recently, the artist has been exploring new territory with a “pop and cute” style.

Born in Fukuoka City in 1992.
2012- Present: Member of JOY Club Atelier Bravo, a welfare service facility for people with disabilities.
2015: Mural at Taihei Hospital (Taihei Hospital, Seigaikai Medical Corporation, Kasuya-gun, Fukuoka Prefecture).

Acrylic paints

Painting

H26.5 × W40 × D2 cm

Artist Profile

He never runs out of things he wants to draw, and as soon as he has a new piece of paper, he immediately starts working on a new piece. Strong black lines crawl across the canvas, and the paint is applied generously, overflowing from the palette. He creates multiple paintings at the same time, and the paintings he created yesterday are transformed into different paintings without hesitation. The layers of paint eventually take on a rich texture.
