[Sep 28 | Limited Capacity] Art × Chocolate Workshop

World-renowned Swiss master chocolatiers Werner & Mitsue Rüegsegger will be joining AFAF.
In this workshop, participants will learn the Bean to Bar process—how cacao beans are transformed into chocolate bars—and then paint directly onto chocolate to create a unique, one-of-a-kind “Art Chocolate.”Children and families are most welcome. As a hands-on program that combines learning and play, it offers an engaging experience for everyone, from young children to adults.

■ About Chocolatier Werner Rüegsegger

Werner Rüegsegger is a Swiss chocolatier, master baker, pastry chef, and educator active on the global stage. For over 60 years, he has dedicated himself to innovation and instruction in confectionery across Europe, Japan, the United States, and various countries in Asia. Internationally recognized as a pioneer of Bean to Bar chocolate, he holds the prestigious Swiss National Meister qualification, has received numerous awards, and built an outstanding record as an educator. He has also served as a judge at the WorldSkills Competition.

 

■ The Fusion of Art and Chocolate

In 2024, Joji Mita and Werner & Mitsue Rüegsegger took part in a project honoring the legacy of the Swiss artistic Giacometti family. In collaboration with Centro Giacometti, they developed Il Cioccolato Giacometti, a single-origin Bean to Bar chocolate packaged with the artwork of painter Augusto Giacometti. Celebrated as a creation where art and taste resonate together, the chocolate quickly drew attention.
