SHIKISAISHA GALLERY

SHIKISAISHA is a contemporary art gallery established in 1996 in Kyobashi, Tokyo. Drawing on experience cultivated in art publishing, we identify and present artists whose individual voices stand out across genres and media. In addition to staging around ten solo and group exhibitions each year, we actively participate in art fairs in Japan and abroad, nurturing a place where artists and audiences—and local and global scenes—meet and grow together.
From our base in Kyobashi, we launched TOKYO CONTEMPORARY KYOBASHI, a project that explores new possibilities for contemporary art through programs developed in collaboration with the district’s cultural resources.
In Ōmiya, we began the exhibition series Art ENCOUNTERS at the soba restaurant SHABA in 2024, creating opportunities to encounter works within the flow of everyday life inside a commercial facility. In April 2025, we opened the permanent space OMIYA ART WALL on the fifth floor of the same complex, continuing exhibitions that are welcoming to families, students, and first-time visitors to contemporary art. Meanwhile in Shibuya, since May 2025 we have been co-operating ShinQs Gallery 5 on the 5th floor of Shibuya Hikarie, building a hub for outreach at the intersection of business and culture in the heart of the city.
Leveraging a network that connects the distinct urban contexts of Kyobashi, Shibuya, and Ōmiya, SHIKISAISHA brings contemporary art closer to everyday life. We believe that the small discoveries and conversations born in these spaces help circulate artistic value from region to world, and back again. We will continue to pursue new initiatives that share the vitality of art with an ever wider audience.
